Most of the travel agencies would rather recommend you to visit the tourist towns of Poland, such as Krakow, Gdansk, or Poznan. Warsaw, even though the capital of Poland, can’t be often found on travelers’ bucket lists. 

What is so special about Warsaw, then?

Warsaw is the largest city in Poland and has less than 2 million residents. Is it one of the safest places in Europe and it’s very cheap compared to other European capitals.

As there aren’t a lot of tourists, you can find some really affordable accommodation. The public transport in Warsaw is cheap, safe, and practical, which makes it easier to move around the city. Polish people are really nice but they’re not fans of excessive smiling, so make sure your smile is not interpreted in a way you don’t intend. This, of course, is a cultural feature, and the more you respect it, the better you fit into the culture.

• Sunset in the Old Town:

The heart of the capital and the oldest part of Warsaw, the Old Town is the place where you’ll find the most authentic Polish restaurants, cafés, museums, and shops. The Town Hall was built in the 13th century and it still keeps its medieval vibes.

• Fryderyk Chopin Museum & Institute, Chopin piano concerts…

A collection of musical manuscripts, Chopin’s personal objects and letters, exhibitions and concerts… these are some of the things that the Chopin Museum can offer. This museum can make you appreciate the life and work of one of the greatest pianists that ever lived, even if you’re not his fan. You’ll see Chopin’s face everywhere in Warsaw, from exhibitions to the most unusual street art.

Last but not least, Chopin’s music is played every single day, so this is something you can’t (and must not) miss in Warsaw.

• Vistula River Night Walks

Vistula is the longest river in Poland and the views from the city quay are wonderful.

Also, don’t miss Warsaw by night. In summers, the weather can be quite pleasant. Should I repeat that it’s one of the safest cities in Europe? 🙃
